18 Dec Stagnant or in Motion?
It’s the end of another year and I have a few questions for you!
How happy and satisfied are you with where you’re at compared to the beginning of 2019?
How many times did you get caught in your own stories and made excuses for not doing what you wanted to do (or what you knew was best for you to do)?
Often what happens when we decide on a new vision for our lives or set a new intention is to start off with a bang and move forward, then “life” gets in the way, things happen, insecurities show up, fears take over and we end up at the end of the year not nearly as far as we thought we would be…
Does this sound familiar?
Looking back, how many detours did you take just because you wanted to do things your way or because you were falling back into old patterns?
Now is the time to be honest with yourself and assess how proud you are of your accomplishments (or how disappointed!). Think about where you want to be in December 2020 and in order to not repeat the past, look at what could be in your way of accomplishing that.
Those of you who have not accomplished what you set yourself to accomplish this last year might want to consider doing things differently. Wanting to do it on our own is often not the solution. The most successful people all have a team to help them see their blind spot or to help them get out of their own way.
Trust me, I know what I’m talking about. At one point, I thought I knew so much that I could succeed on my own…
I’ve had a mentor for as long as I can remember but during that time, there was a period where I was working with her on and off. I thought I had evolved enough and had learnt so much that I didn’t need someone to guide me and help me see where or how I could be in my own way.
I remember reaching out to her after 4-5 months of a “break” completely lost and confused. I couldn’t understand how I could be going everywhere, but where I wanted to go. I had a plan and goals and I was busy during the day… but it was all an illusion. I had not realized a key thing: when you push yourself and expand, you are faced with more gunk.
It can be the same gunk, but a new layer of it. It’s by going through the layers that allows us to expand and transform. From that moment on, I committed to always having someone by my side, even if it meant one appointment per month; I wanted to make sure I was moving in alignment.
Truthfully, it is the only thing that allowed me to stay sane in really hard moments.
The message here is that it’s easy to get lost. We often think “we’re done” because we feel so much better and can see so much clearer. The reality is that we are never really “done”; we choose how far and how deep we want to go and when to stop or take a break. The nugget here is it’s all up to YOU!
Do you know what your vision for 2020 is? If you’re ready to make the changes in your life to live the life you want to live. If you are open to look at your gunk that is keeping you small. And if you are committed to the process of self-transformation, reach out, 2020 could be the most impactful year of your life!!!
