The one thing no one can take away from you is your power of choice. And right now, you can choose what mindset you embody.
What we are experiencing is VERY hard. We are confined in one place, sharing space with people 24/7 or are home alone. How you choose to experience these times is crucial for you mentally, emotionally and physically.
What can you do to not fall into the numbness of “doing nothing” and overload of information about the Covid-19?
Don’t get me wrong, we have to stay informed, be responsible and think of others around us, but how do we do this and not fall into the fear the media is generating and go down the rabbit hole?
The answer is simple: Your Power of Choice.
- You can choose what you feed your brain and mind. Meaning what you watch, how you speak, and what/how you think.
- You can choose what you feed your body and how you treat your body. Meaning what kind of food and beverage you ingest and if you’re being a couch potato or staying active and exercise regularly.
- And you definitely have the power to choose how you feel. No one can make you feel something you don’t want to feel.
We were fooled for way too long to believe that we had to obey and conform. To do what we were told or else we were a bad person. We were imposed and taught beliefs that didn’t belong to us, that didn’t resonate with who we are deep down.The opportunity with the Covid-19 crisis is that it gives us the time and space we need to reflect on what we truly love, who we truly are and how we want to live. We now have the space needed to see and choose what aligns with us.
This also means we choose, consciously or not, how we perceive and experience every moment based on our beliefs and programs. There is a caveat here… we not only have to claim our ultimate power, but we have to be ready to live up to it! It does come with a responsibility. A responsibility to make the necessary changes in our lives to live in alignment with our choice.
What I mean by this is if you choose to be calm and happy during these hard times, it requires you to speak words that reflect happiness and calmness, actions that support it too. You might start exercising to relieve stress and eat a more healthy diet that doesn’t put you to sleep for two hours and makes you feel like crap.
People can tell you to not do it or that you won’t succeed but it’s YOUR CHOICE to believe them or not. No one can make you believe something you don’t want to believe.
If you don’t like your current experience, you can take this time to stop and ask yourself:
- What is creating this experience?
- What is behind it?
- What do I want to experience?
- What different choices do I need to make to experience what I want?
- What needs to change in my life to align with what I want?
Remember that you always have the choice to be positive, make the best out of the confinement and use this time to assess and realign what is important in your life and how you want to live. No one can take that power away from you.
